“Our first dance song was only ever released online, so Sol had a single record cut just for us. It's framed in our hallway now. The floor under those mirror balls never emptied.”

“Tom's dad hasn't danced since the eighties and Sol had him out there for the whole last hour. She drove down the day before, set up in the heat without a single complaint, and the sound in that tipi was beautiful.”

“People started booking tables for the last hour of sun just to hear her, which has never happened here before. Every Sunday she played was busier than the one before.”

“We wanted our wedding to feel like a Sunday lunch that got out of hand, and Sol understood that straight away. My nan asked her what was playing three times and wrote every answer down on a napkin.”

What clients said

Only clients from a documented job can review

“Mum brought three of her own records from 1976 and Sol played every one of them. We planned a quiet dinner and ended up with a room full of people in their seventies doing the hustle until eleven.”

“Sol made the whole park feel like a party without drowning anyone out, and a few stallholders sold out of soul records because of her. Our only wish is that she'd started an hour earlier, before the morning crowd drifted off.”

About

In their own words

I only play records.

Disco, soul, funk, boogie and the rare groove that never made the radio, mixed on two turntables and an old rotary mixer that makes everything sound a little warmer than it should. Most of my weekends are long lunch weddings in the Swan Valley and down south, where the music starts soft under the gum trees and ends with your aunties dancing barefoot on the lawn. I bring four crates to every booking, we talk properly about what you love beforehand, and no two sets are ever the same.
